But we believe strong, sustainable solutions involve more than just software and hardware. What agencies often need most is skilled manpower to complement their teams and alleviate the pressures of software deployment, skills training, and the hiring process.
That’s where our residency services come in. We have two distinct offerings that allow our engineers to work alongside an agency’s existing IT team: deployment and resident engineers.
Our Engineers Working for You
Often, agencies realize early on that they’ll need to bring on extra manpower to get up and running with their new tools. The day-to-day operations of federal IT generally leaves little time for workers to shift priorities and spend the hours necessary to both integrate and learn the solution up front. That’s where Sirius Federal can lend a hand. We bring in deployment engineers to lighten the load, drive the implementation process, and make sure the new solution works well with already established processes.
When the timeline for the solution is stretched longer, or when agencies need slightly more permanent support, we’ll bring in a resident engineer. Unlike deployment engineers, who come in to solve a specific need as quickly as possible, resident engineers will work at the tempo agencies need for a longer engagement, integrating with existing agency IT resources. Our resident’s become part of the agency’s IT team.
An Easy Fit
Agencies know how resource intensive the hiring process can be. By bringing in a deployment or resident engineer, they hand over the bulk of that workload to our team. We use an extensive vetting process to select the perfect fit for the job, including securing someone whose clearance status already matches the need of the agency. We pride ourselves in our expertise in securing talent — when we send our candidate over to and agency to meet, they’re more often than not the right fit on the first try.
Sirius Federal engineers will hit the ground running on the new solution, bringing expertise in the software or hardware to bear on day one. They’ll be stewards for the technology, helping ease the transition process for everyone on the team. When you take the learning curve out of the equation and bring on experienced talent to focus on getting the solution in place, the timeline for project completion can be reduced by half, sometimes more.

Every day, new technology comes into play with the potential to remake the IT landscape. That’s the nature of the field. But the heartbeat of IT comes from the engineers who lend their days steering the ship. That’s a constant. This is why finding an engineer who loves the work is a must.
Deployments and residencies are positions engineers thrive in — the challenges and opportunities of limited contract work can be highly motivating. Deployment engineers relish the opportunity to work on high-intensity, highly specific problems. They have years of experience diving deep into a range of products and processes and bring a highly specialized knowledge to the job. Similarly, resident engineers enjoy maintaining a comprehensive understanding of a solution, with the added benefit of becoming an integrated part of an agency’s team.
While we continue to advance our solutions to meet the changing demands of federal IT, a solution will only ever be as good as the people working on it. Our deployment and resident engineers are ready and eager to get to work for agencies and their teams.
